Wood chip storage ventilation is essential for maintaining the quality of stored material, minimising risks, and ensuring safe operation. A properly designed ventilation system reduces moisture, dust, and unpleasant odours from wood chips, creating optimal conditions for further processing and long-term storage. Reducing moisture also helps prevent mould growth and biological decomposition of the material, while lowering dust and odour improves the working environment and surrounding atmosphere.
In this project, we used a high-efficiency Flat WOOD filtration unit designed for explosive dust extraction. The filter is equipped with an antistatic filter medium and explosion relief membranes that safely vent the pressure wave outside the facility in the event of an explosion. The suction duct features a B-Flap backdraft damper to prevent pressure wave propagation and a rotary valve certified for explosive zone separation.
To ensure smooth material discharge and prevent bridging, the filter hopper is fitted with a flat bottom and a discharge screw. The extraction fan is enclosed in an acoustic housing, significantly reducing overall system noise and improving comfort around the storage area.
Due to the high humidity of the environment, we selected a thermally insulated filter housing and hopper to prevent condensation and extend the equipment’s lifespan. This wood chip storage ventilation system provides a reliable, safe, and long-term effective solution, combining high filtration efficiency with operational safety.
