In woodworking, where large amounts of shavings and sawdust are generated, it is essential to ensure the continuous removal of material from the machines to prevent waste from accumulating near the tools and unnecessary dusting in the workshop. For this project, we selected the G&G Flat WOOD filtration system in a modular design. The entire system is located outdoors on a steel support structure.
The Flat WOOD system is based on flat filter bags made of non-woven fabric, which are arranged horizontally within the unit. This design has specific technical advantages in woodworking:
Natural material flow: The horizontal orientation of the bags allows extracted sawdust and shavings to fall freely between the bags directly into the hopper. This prevents them from getting caught and clogging the gaps, which is a common problem with filters featuring vertical hoses.
Compact dimensions: Thanks to the horizontal arrangement of the bags, the filter housing has a lower overall height, which facilitates installation in areas with limited space.
Cleaning of the filter media takes place automatically using a vibration mechanism driven by an electric motor.
Low operating costs: The system does not require the installation of a compressor station or compressed air lines to the filter. This reduces the energy consumption of the entire exhaust system.
Simple maintenance: The vibration shaker is a mechanically simple component with a long service life that activates after each fan shutdown.
Even though the filtration unit is located outdoors, the system is designed to minimize energy losses during the winter:
Air return to the hall: Filtered air is returned to the production areas via insulated return ducts. Residual dust emissions are guaranteed to be below 0.1 mg/m³.
Heating savings: Thanks to the closed-loop air circuit, the hall is not cooled by drawing in outside air, which significantly reduces heating costs during the winter season.
Extracted wood dust forms an explosive mixture; therefore, the system is designed in accordance with ATEX standards:
Explosion membranes: Certified membranes are installed on the filter housing to release pressure waves into open space.
Facility protection: In the event of a dust ignition inside the filter, the energy is released outside the production hall, thereby protecting both the equipment and the health of employees.
Filtration system: G&G Flat WOOD (galvanized version)
Airflow capacity: Depends on the module configuration (typically 10,000 to 50,000 m³/h)
Filtration type: Flat bags (horizontal arrangement)
Regeneration: Automatic vibration shaking
Waste discharge: Hopper with rotary feeder (connection to a container/briquetting machine)
Location: Outdoor (on a steel structure)
The G&G Flat WOOD filtration system represents an effective solution for the woodworking industry. Thanks to the mechanical simplicity of vibration cleaning and heat savings from air recirculation, it offers high operational reliability with a quick return on investment.
