Hay Dust Removal System for Feed Packaging Line

As part of a modern packaging line for hay intended as feed for small domestic animals (such as rabbits, guinea pigs, and hamsters), we designed and implemented a system that removes fine dust particles from the bulk material.

The main goal of this enhancement is to increase the end customer's comfort and product quality perception.

Why is dust removal so important?

When unpacking hay in a household setting, it is highly undesirable for fine dust to be released into the air, potentially settling on floors, furniture, or throughout the room. Clean, dust-free hay significantly improves user comfort and creates the impression of a higher-quality product.

For this reason, the baling technology was supplemented with a mechanical hay cleaning system that ensures no fine dust particles remain in the final product.

How the system works

1. After loosening the hay bales using a shredder, the material is conveyed into a suction chamber. Here, the first cleaning stage takes place – heavy impurities such as stones, soil, or large debris fall into the waste section and are separated from the hay flow.
    
2. The lighter portion of the material – hay containing dust – is drawn into the suction pipe, which leads to a rotary separator.
    
3. In the rotary separator, fine dust particles are separated by an integrated screen. The cleaned hay continues to the packaging unit.
    
4. The dust particles collected from the separator are further filtered in a Vibro BAG unit equipped with automatic filter bag regeneration via a vibration motor. This ensures smooth, low-maintenance operation.
