Biomass combustion, especially wood chips, represents an environmentally friendly way of heating. However, to ensure boiler operation meets strict emission standards, it is necessary to supplement the combustion technology with an effective flue gas filtration system.
Cyclone separators commonly supplied with boilers often fail to meet dust emission limits, which is why their efficiency must be significantly enhanced through the installation of high-performance filtration technology.
For this application, we chose the Steel JET filtration unit, which is optimized for high-temperature operation and heavy dust loads. This filter is equipped with:
Stainless steel microporous fabric filter media with heat resistance up to 400 °C, ensuring high protection against ignition caused by sparks or burning particles carried by the flue gas.
The filter media is mounted on rigid wire frames to maintain stable positioning and mechanical durability even during long-term operation.
Automatic regeneration using compressed air restores the permeability of the fabric and enables unattended, efficient operation.
The Steel JET filter was installed downstream of the existing cyclone separator, whose performance did not meet the emission requirements for total suspended particles (TSP). By combining both technologies, dust emissions were significantly reduced, and legal emission limits were met.
Thanks to the use of special stainless-steel filter media with high-temperature resistance and the unit’s robust construction, the system is highly resistant to potential ignition caused by unburned material, sparks, or burning particles in the flue gas. This ensures both safe operation and long filter lifespan.
